Russian invaders keep trying to capture Bakhmut. However, the Ukrainian military heroically defended the city and repelled enemy attacks.

- National Security and Defense Council Secretary Alexei Danilov said that the invaders are trying to take Bakhmut by the anniversary of a full-scale war. At first they promised to “give” it to Vladimir Putin on October 7 for his birthday, but failed.
- British intelligence claims that Russia may announce that they allegedly captured the city of Bakhmut, around which bloody battles have been going on for several months. The Kremlin needs to show at least some victories in order to reduce the pressure inside the country.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that it is important for Ukraine to defend Bakhmut, but not at any cost.
