The Russian military has been bombarding Kharkiv every day since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Most of all went to the area of Northern Saltovka. It suffered significant damage.
It was this area that was visited by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko. After his visit and meeting with Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov, he showed the consequences of the destruction of Severnaya Saltovka.
Some streets will need to be rebuilt
Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that 300,000 Kharkiv residents lived in Severnaya Saltovka. And it is this area – one of those who experienced the greatest destruction as a result of enemy attacks. It got to the point that some large streets in it were literally wiped off the face of the earth. This means that houses for residents can no longer be restored.
There is no other way to build new ones. This will be housing for Kharkiv residents who have lost their homes due to Russian aggression,” Tymoshenko stressed.
He also added that the local authorities had already chosen the territory. It will carry out the construction of residential buildings for those who have lost their homes. We are currently working on permits. In particular, a “green light” from the military is needed.

While they are building new buildings, they will have to demolish those that the occupier has destroyed. As Tymoshenko noted, in Kharkov it will be necessary to build not only residential buildings, but also schools, kindergartens, and hospitals. Everything that is necessary for the residents of Severnaya Saltovka so that they receive not only the necessary services, but also not be deprived of comfort.
Kyrylo Tymoshenko added that in Kharkov about 500 houses will have to be built from scratch. Now the local authorities are working to ensure that all those left homeless have temporary housing. They are accommodated in dormitories of universities, as well as in social institutions. This is a necessary but not permanent solution. Subsequently, each of them will receive their own new housing.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense spoke about Northern Saltovka. Speaking in the language of numbers, in the Kharkiv region, 70% of houses and infrastructure were destroyed. And what the infidels turned it into is frankly frightening.
Especially considering the fact that the residential area could boast of modern infrastructure and was developed. Moreover, it had many shopping, entertainment, and educational institutions.
