On the night of December 28, Lviv firefighters put out a massive fire in one of the high-rise buildings. Probably, a battery exploded in one of the apartments, which led to a fire.

The press service of the State Emergency Service of the Lviv region reported that 28 specialists and 7 units of special equipment had to be involved in extinguishing the flame and eliminating the consequences of the fire . The owner of the apartment was burned, the others were not injured.

Firemen evacuated people and put out the flames

On the night of December 28, around 03:20, the Rescue Service “101” received a message about a fire in Lviv. It was reported that an apartment in a residential building was on fire at 21 Ternopilska Street.

It turned out that a strong fire had ignited on the seventh floor of a high-rise building. By the time the firefighters arrived, the flames were already knocking out of the apartment.

In general, 28 rescuers were involved in the incident: some of them put out the fire, and the rest evacuated the locals.

Residents of neighboring apartments on the seventh and upper floors had to be taken out of their houses, because due to the dense smoke caused by the fire, the entrance was filled with toxic combustion products. In total,19 people were evacuated, including 4 children.

The owner of the apartment suffered burns to his hands of moderate severity. He was sent to the hospital.

Rescuers did not report the cause of the fire. However, according to ZAXID.NET, a battery with an inverter exploded in the apartment.

Sadovy told if Lviv is ready for a blackout

  • Andrey Sadovyy spoke about preparations in Lviv for a possible blackout. According to him, Lviv is ready in case of a complete blackout in the city.
  • “It's okay, we'll be romantic, by candlelight,” the mayor jokingly replied. At the same time, Sadovyi added that already 1,000 shelters have stoves for which firewood has been stored.
  • Schools, according to Sadovyi, are also equipped with everything necessary. The mayor assures that the supply in the city is double or even triple.
