The 32nd US state has already recognized the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians – Markarova

The American state of Wyoming recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people and proclaimed November as the month of remembrance of the tragedy.

This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova.

Markarova thanked Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon for his solidarity with Ukraine, as well as the Ukrainian community in all states for an active campaign to honor the memory of the victims of the Holodomor by organizing educational events about this crime of the Soviet regime.

The Ambassador also recalled that traditionally on the last Saturday of November, Ukrainians around the world light candles in memory of those killed in the Holodomor. She invited everyone to join on November 25 the ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holodomor, which will take place in Washington.

In total, 32 states recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

On October 12, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
