As a result of the terrorist attack, there are dead and wounded.
On Wednesday, October 23, in the capital of Turkey, Ankara, an explosion occurred in front of the building of the aerospace company Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ).
This was reported by the Turkish publication Aydinlik.
The country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement on a social network that there were dead and wounded as a result of the terrorist attack. He did not provide additional information on the number of victims and injured.
Security forces, a fire brigade, and a medical team were sent to the scene.
Shots were heard at the scene of the terrorist attack after the explosion. According to Turkish media, three people were involved in the attack, detonating a bomb at the entrance to the aircraft plant, two of whom entered the territory of the enterprise.
TUSAȘ is one of the most important defense and aviation companies in Turkey.
It is known that this enterprise carries out licensed production of General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon jet aircraft, CASA/IPTN CN-235 light transport/maritime patrol/reconnaissance aircraft, Cougar AS-532 search and rescue aircraft, combat search and rescue (CSAR) and utility helicopters, as well as the design and development of unmanned aerial vehicles. The country's first fighter jet, the KAAN, is also produced here.
Following the attack, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kaçir made a statement.
“We will never back down from the defense industry and the national technology drive. The national technology drive and the national defense industry are the key to a fully independent Turkey,” the official said.
Recall that in October last year, an explosion was heard near the parliament and the Ministry of Interior buildings in the Turkish capital Ankara.
