President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev explained his statement about non-recognition of the quasi-republic in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In particular, he noted the priority of territorial integrity.

Kasim-Jomart Tokayev stated this while speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum on June 21. The President of Kazakhstan noted the support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Territorial integrity is the main thing

Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, explaining his statement from the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, noted that the main thing is territorial integrity. This is the reason why Kazakhstan will not recognize a quasi-entity.

Expressing our approach to the territorial integrity of states, I, of course, had in mind the basic principle of the UN Charter. In my opinion, the territorial integrity of states should prevail,” Tokayev stressed.

Commenting on the war in Ukraine, Tokayev spoke about the need to resume the negotiation process. Calling himself a friend of Ukraine and Russia, the President of Kazakhstan said he was ready to provide opportunities for negotiations.

True, Tokayev never called the war in Ukraine a war. And at the end of the interview, he said that he was glad to have good relations with the Russian dictator Putin.

Tokayev's statement on non-recognition of the quasi-republic

During a speech at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, organized by the aggressor country, Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev said that he would not recognize militants in the Donbass. Moreover, in the presence of Putin, Tokayev called entities in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian Donbas quasi-republics.

Tokayev’s statement immediately caused a stir, because he declared non-recognition of quasi-entities directly before the Russian dictator.

In addition to Tokayev’s words the economic forum remembered Putin's next fail. Trying to pronounce the name and patronymic of the Kazakh president – Kasim-Zhomart Kemelevich – the head of the Kremlin again disgraced himself and made a set of sounds. It is interesting that the problem of pronunciation of Tokaev's name by the Kremlin dictator has been going on for at least half a year.

Another sharp statement by Tokaev

Putin's supporter and head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov attacked members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization with the accusation that allegedly “Russia saved everyone”, but now the CSTO members are not helping them. Kadyrov also recalled the protests in Belarus and Kazakhstan, and the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

However, Tokayev's response was not long in coming. The President of Kazakhstan noted that during the protests in January 2022, the country was saved not by Russia, but by the CSTO.
