Terekhov paid a fine for addressing Kharkiv residents in Russian

At the end of November, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov violated language laws during the telethon. He addressed the Kharkiv residents in Russian.

The decision to fine the mayor was taken by Taras Kremen, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language. It concerns the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language”.

According to the deputy mayor of Kharkiv Tatyana Chechetova -Terekhov paid the fine on December 2.

In addition, the deputy noted that the mayor of Kharkov voluntarily paid the fine in accordance with the decision on an administrative offense.

The city council did not indicate the amount of the penalty, but The mayor had to pay 3,400 hryvnias.
