On Tuesday, November 5, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Galant. This led to large-scale rallies across the country

Protests in Israel against the dismissal of the Defense Minister

Thus, tens of thousands of people in different cities of Israel took to the streets after Netanyahu's decision to fire the Defense Minister. Protests continue in Haifa, Netanya, Be'er Sheva and at intersections across the country, in addition to large demonstrations in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

In Tel Aviv, protesters blocked the central highway, and in Haifa, police have already intervened.

Moreover, rallies also continue in Nahariya and other communities in northern Israel, despite orders to limit public gatherings amid constant rocket fire from Lebanon.

Interestingly, Benjamin Netanyahu already tried to free Galant in March 2023. This came after the Defense Minister called on the Prime Minister to stop the planned judicial reform. However, the decision to dismiss caused a wave of protests against Netanyahu, which forced the head of Israel to cancel it.

Note that instead of Galant, the new Minister of Defense of Israel was the head of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel Katz.
