An action in support of Ukraine took place in Hamburg, which united concerned citizens and activists. The main goal of the event was to call on the German government to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles.

The event was held under the slogan #FreeTheTaurus. The participants of the action also prepared photos with Ukrainian cities that suffered from the war with Russia, reports 24 Channel.

What is known about the action in Hamburg

On Friday, January 10, Ukrainians in Hamburg staged a rally in support of Ukraine, during which participants called on the German government to transfer long-range Taurus missiles to Kyiv to protect Ukrainian territories from Russian aggression.

The protesters held a banner with the inscription “Taurus for Ukraine” and on the ground they laid out photographs demonstrating the consequences of Russian bombing of Ukrainian cities.

In this way, the organizers of the action once again reminded the world community of the terrible war in Ukraine, the destruction of cities and the suffering of civilians. They called on the international community not to stand aside and to increase assistance to Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and independence.

Why Ukraine Needs Taurus Missiles

Ukraine has been trying for a long time to obtain permission from Germany to transfer Taurus missiles. There are several reasons for this.

How Taurus missiles will help Ukraine:

• Ukraine needs Taurus missiles to protect its own territory from Russian aggression;
• The Ukrainian army needs long-range missiles to destroy Russian military facilities in the occupied territories deep in the front line;
• Taurus will help Ukraine destroy airfields and planes used by Russian troops to bomb Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure;

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also repeatedly proven that they can effectively use Western long-range precision weapons, in particular American ATACMS missiles, British Storm Shadow and French SCALP.

Recall that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is against the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. According to him, this position is consistent with the opinion of Donald Trump, who condemns the use of American missiles to strike Russian territory.
