The German defense concern Rheinmetall plans to launch four plants in Ukraine, and one of them is already operating, and another is being completed.
Rheinmetall Director Armin Papperger spoke about this in an interview with TSN.
Construction of Rheinmetall plants in Ukraine
According to him, today the company has many plans for development in Ukraine.
Now watching
— We have many good plans. The first plant is already operating. The Ukrainian defense industry is our partner. Now we have a production plant and a service plant. By the end of the year, we will already have the first state-of-the-art Lynx infantry fighting vehicle in Ukraine. At the moment, we service infantry fighting vehicles, but also main battle tanks. Therefore, this is a very productive joint venture, — Papperger said.
According to him, Rheinmetall owns 51% of the shares of this already built plant.
At the same time, the concern is already on the way to building a gunpowder plant, as well as an ammunition manufacturing plant in Ukraine.
— The third point — is that we want to establish the production of air defense systems so that you can defend yourselves, — said the director of Rheinmetall.
According to him, today the company is conducting “a powerful training program” for employees of enterprises, and, he notes, progress is extremely fast on certain issues.
— Of course, sometimes there is a question of bureaucracy on both the German and Ukrainian sides, but in the end everything works, — said the director of the defense company.
Papperger says that a total of four defense plants are planned to be created in Ukraine.
— Things are moving forward. The first plant is already ready. The second is on the way. And now I insist on speeding up all this, because we have no time, we must not waste it, — he says.
According to him, the capacities of these enterprises “will be very good”.
— Production line No. 1 will be aimed at tanks. The capabilities of gunpowder production and ammunition will be aimed at double or even triple production according to NATO standards, which you do not have at the moment. After all, your production line still has old Soviet standards. These will be outstanding technologies in the future. There will also be production of artillery and ammunition for tanks there. I can’t say more, — shared Papperger.
