The day before, the Kremlin threatened to “neutralize” the new US missile defense base in northern Poland. Washington has stated that it takes these threats seriously.

John Kirby stressed that such threats must be taken seriously.

And we do. As reckless and irresponsible as they are, we take them seriously, – said the White House adviser.

At the same time, he emphasized that President Biden “is unwavering.” He added that the United States will do everything possible to make sure that American troops on the European continent are safe.

And, just as importantly, we take our Article 5 obligations to our NATO allies very seriously. That is unwavering, and that will not change, – Kirby emphasized.

Earlier, Warsaw also responded to the new threats from the Kremlin. Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski noted that the base is purely defensive in nature and is designed to combat ballistic missiles.
