Russia has a fairly old housing stock that is constantly collapsing. The vast majority of money goes to war or into the pockets of officials.

Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko told Channel 24 about this, noting that only officially about 40% of the Russian budget goes to the war against Ukraine. But in fact, they spend even more money on military operations.

The housing stock in Russia is very old

As Yakovenko noted, it is therefore not surprising that in Russia there is regularly news that a house has collapsed. As this recently happened in Astrakhan.

It calmly collapses on its own. This can be considered a symbol of true Russia. When Russia will fall the same way. There are many people living there without toilets in their apartments. They have cesspools. The whole country is in a musty state. – said Yakovenko.

The situation could have been completely different if the Russian authorities had not invested money in an unjust war and enriched themselves. That is why the situation arises that the same regions where oil is produced have beautiful hotels and terrible high-rise buildings.

Here in Yakutia. There are diamonds and gold. Everything seems to be fine. Great hotels. And nearby there is a meager housing stock and miserable life. The same – Khanty-Mansiysk. The Russian economy works like this: most of the money goes to Moscow, and what remains ends up in the pockets of officials. – Yakovenko noted.

Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine: briefly

  • Russia has suffered colossal losses since the start of the full-scale invasion. It started on February 24, 2022.
  • Since then, the Ukrainian military has destroyed 316,760 enemy personnel. And over the past day, September 16, this number increased by another 1,140 units.
  • Russia also lost 5,415 tanks, 10,132 armored combat vehicles, 7,712 artillery systems, 893 MLRS, 585 air defense systems, 323 aircraft.
