Since the beginning of the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, the ban on their use for attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation continues.
Agreements have been reached in Sweden regarding the right of Ukraine to use the weapons of this country to destroy targets on Russian territory.
This is reported by Hallandsposten with reference to a comment by the country's Minister of Defense Paul Johnsen.
The Swedish Minister of Defense noted that Ukraine is being subjected to an unprovoked and illegal war of aggression by Russia.
“According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself by military actions aimed at enemy territory if they comply with the laws of war. Sweden supports international law and Ukraine's right to defense,” the message notes.
According to Western media, not all leaders of countries still support the ban on striking targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. The debate on weakening it continues in the administration of US President Joe Biden.
At the same time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine’s partner countries should lift the ban on the use of their weapons to strike targets on Russian territory.
