Tennis player Elina Svitolina became the third Ukrainian to reach the third round of the Grand Slam — Wimbledon 2024.
In two sets she defeated the German Jule Niemaer with a score of 6:3, 6:4. The tennis players spent 1 hour and 17 minutes on the court, during which Svitolina served four times and made two double faults.

At the start of the first game, the tennis players exchanged breaks. The key game was the eighth game, in which the Ukrainian scored a break, and then successfully defended her serve and took the lead in sets.

In the second game, Svitolina led with a break 2:0. In the seventh game, she took another serve from her opponent, but immediately allowed Niemaer to break. Still, the match ended in victory for the Ukrainian — Elina beat Yule from the third match point.
In the third round, the rival of the former first racket of Ukraine will be the Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur, who is ranked tenth in the WTA rankings.
On June 4, Marta Kostyuk also managed to reach the third round. The Ukrainian lost the first game to Australian Daria Saville, and in the second, with the score 5:2 in favor of her opponent, she made a comeback and continued her performances at the tournament.
