The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina overcame the barrier of the second round of the Grand Slam tournament Roland Garros 2024.
In two sets she beat the host of the courts, the Frenchwoman Diane Parry with a score of 6:4, 7:6 ( 7:3).

The tennis players played on an indoor court, so despite the rain, it was one of the few matches at Roland Garros as of 16:30 on Thursday that was not interrupted.

The game lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes, during which the Ukrainian made four serves through and won three out of six break points.
In the first set, the tennis players exchanged breaks. On the seventh rally, Elina took her opponent’s serve and then closed the set.
In the second game, Svitolina took a 4:1 lead with breaks, but then allowed her opponent to take two of her serves. The outcome of the second set was determined in a tiebreaker, in which the Ukrainian won six draws in a row, lost two match points and won with a score of 7:3.

Svitolina’s opponent in the third round will be the winner of the match between Romanian Anna Bogdan and “neutral” Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Recall that in the first round of Roland Garros, Elina won a strong-willed victory over the former first racket of the world Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic in three sets.
Dayana Yastremskaya also entered the third round of Roland Garros, defeating the Chinese Yafan Wang in less than an hour. But Marta Kostyuk unexpectedly lost to Croatian Donna Vekic in two sets and sheathed her racket in the singles tournament.
