Svitolina and Yastremska confidently reach third round of Australian Open

Ukrainians Dajana Yastremska and Elina Svitolina advanced to the third round of the Grand Slam tennis tournament — Australian Open-2025.

Dajana's opponent was Montenegrin Danka Kovinic, and Svitolina beat American Caroline Dolehide.

The tennis players spent only 52 minutes on the court, during which Yastremska served three aces, made fewer unforced errors (6:17) and had more winners than her opponent — 18:5.

Dajana closed the first set with a crushing score of 6:0 in just 20 minutes, without giving up a single game to the Montenegrin tennis player.

In the second set, Yastremska took the lead with a break, but Kovinic managed to take the third game on her serve. However, the Ukrainian converted two more breaks and closed the match — 6:0, 6:1.

Dayana's opponent in the third round of the Australian Open will be the sixth seeded Kazakh Elena Rybakina, who beat the American Iva Jovic in two sets.

Svitolina — Dolehide: how the match went

Svitolina needed 1 hour and 15 minutes to win. During this time, the Ukrainian made seven aces, made the same number of unforced errors — 26:26, but had more winners — 29:15.

The tennis players started the first set on equal terms, but then Svitolina took the lead with two breaks and closed the set with a score of 6:1.

In the second set, the key was the first rally on Dolehide's serve, which Elina took – 6:1, 6:4.For the Ukrainian, this was the hundredth victory in her career at the Grand Slam tournament level.

For a place in the 1/8 finals of the tournament, Svitolina will play the winner of the match between Mexican Renata Zarazua and Italian Jasmine Paolini, who is seeded fourth number.

In the previous round, Svitolina beat Romania's number one Sorana Cirstiu, and Yastremska beat Egypt's Mayar Sherif.
