Supporters of Ukraine are called traitors: how the Georgian authorities support Russia

by alex

The people of Georgia came out to protest against the bill on “foreign agents”, which is called dictated from Moscow. In contrast to the population, which for the most part supports Ukraine, the authorities in Tbilisi are absolutely pro-Russian.

The draft law on “foreign agents” is an absolutely Russian law that consolidates the power of the oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. Khatia Dekanoidze, deputy of the Georgian parliament, head of the United National Movement faction, spoke about this on Channel 24 .

Georgian authorities do not want Ukraine's victory

According to the interlocutor, the opposition has been fighting for a week to prevent this law from being approved. However, the Georgian parliament still voted for him.

There were very big protests. Many around the parliament are protesting, chanting. There are demands that the authorities reject this law and that all detained protesters be released,” the parliamentarian said.

In her opinion, Bidzina Ivanishvili and his Georgian Dream party are people who fulfill the freedom not of the Georgian people, but of a completely different state. This, of course, is about Russia, which is an occupier for Georgia.

“After all, 20% of our territory is occupied by Russian troops. To be honest, after February 24, when Russia’s full-scale aggression began, it was already clear then that Ivanishvili did not want Ukraine to win,” Khatia Dekanoidze said.

The politician from Georgia is convinced that Ivanishvili does not believe in the victory of Ukraine, and the Georgian Dream does not want such a scenario for the end of the war to be realized.

They called me a traitor because I supported Ukraine. But we will fight for freedom, because partners say that the approval of this law will cause serious complications for the status of an EU candidate. – said the MP.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili promised to veto the bill. However, this will not solve the problem, since Ivanishvili needs a majority in parliament to override the veto.

Bidzina Ivanishvili

This is a Georgian oligarch and politicians, the Prime Minister of Georgia in 2012-2013 and the leader of the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party. He is associated with Russia and the Kremlin. And to prove such a connection, one does not need to go far. Among the assets of the oligarch, in particular, the Russian Credit Bank, a large stake in Gazprom, and many others.
