This was reported by Channel 24 with reference to ABC News.

Explosion at a train station in Pakistan

A senior Pakistani official, Hamza Shafqat, said that the explosion occurred while almost a hundred passengers were waiting for a train to the city of Rawalpindi from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.

As a result of the attack, at least 24 people were killed, including about 10 security forces and six railway workers. About 50 people were injured, some of them in serious condition. Some of the seriously injured passengers died in hospital, increasing the death toll.

When asked about security, Shafqat told reporters that “usually it is very difficult to stop such suicide attacks.” The station's security official said there were no violations because the attacker was dressed as a passenger and blew himself up among the crowd.

The separatist group Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement, they said the suicide bomber targeted troops present at the railway station.

Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Muhammad Baloch said the separatists often attack soft targets.

“When their people are arrested, they also attack in retaliation. We all have to fight this war. We are resilient. Our people are here and trying to save as many lives as possible,” he said.
