Strikes on Kharkov and Borovaya
Russian troops struck Kharkov on May 28, killing a woman and wounding 13 others.
According to information from the Kharkov OVA, as a result of enemy air strikes from the UMPB DT-30, a non-residential building of a private enterprise, a car, an art college, shops and more were damaged.
Later, the Russian occupiers struck the Kyiv district of Kharkov, which resulted in a fire in civilian infrastructure, but there were no casualties.
Borovaya, Izyum district, also came under Russian attack, where a 70-year-old man was injured. He was hospitalized with blast injuries. Two residential buildings were on fire, and at another address a fire broke out at the New Post office.
The situation in the power system
The situation in the Ukrainian energy system has improved due to the fact that it was possible to connect the nuclear unit of one of the nuclear power plants to the network after repair.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the planned repairs of the unit were completed three days ahead of schedule. They note that the nuclear power plant unit is already gaining power and will add 1000 MW to the energy system.
They plan to prepare several more units for repairs to ensure stable and uninterrupted operation during the heating season.
Russia's plans in the north
Russia is preparing a group of troops of up to 300 thousand people near the border with Ukraine, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said.
According to him, the Russian Federation is transferring more and more manpower and equipment to the front. The Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to stabilize a new front in the north-east of the Kharkov region, but Moscow is preparing for a new onslaught, the head of the Ministry of Defense is convinced.
According to the latest data, the Russian Federation has about 500 thousand military personnel on the territory of Ukraine, and near the borders of the Russian Federation it intends to add another 200 thousand to 300 thousand soldiers, the Minister of Defense noted.
World Summit
US President Joe Biden should personally attend the Peace Summit in Switzerland, which will take place on June 15-16, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky emphasized.
According to the head of state, the Ukrainian side knows that the United States supports the Peace Summit, but it is unknown at what level. In his opinion, this is not a very strong solution.
Vladimir Zelensky noted that President Biden needs the Peace Summit and other leaders who take into account the US reaction. He believes Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will give a standing ovation if Biden is not at the meeting.
Security agreements with Belgium and Portugal
On the afternoon of May 28, Ukraine signed bilateral security agreements with Belgium and Portugal.
The agreement with Belgium guarantees at least €977 million in military aid to Ukraine this year, as well as Brussels' commitment to support Kyiv over the ten-year term of the agreement.
At the same time, Portugal will provide Ukraine with at least €126 million in military support this year and will support the restoration of territorial integrity within the 1991 borders, including the territorial sea.
