April 29, as a result of a missile attack in Odessa, the notorious president of the Odessa Law Academy and former people's deputy Sergei Kivalov was injured.
A strong fire started in Kivalov’s Odessa residence, where he was staying at that time. The flame spread to 600 sq.m.
Dumskaya reported this, referring to the speaker of the regional department of the State Emergency Service Marina Averina.

Sergey Kivalov — what is known about him
69-year-old Sergei Kivalov has been involved in politics in Ukraine since 1998, at the same time he was elected people's deputy of the 3rd convocation.
He was elected people's deputy six times and headed the Ukrainian Maritime Party.
Co-author of the law on the fundamentals of state language policy, unofficially known as the Kivalov-Kolesnichenko law. It was supposed to significantly expand the use of regional languages, if the number of speakers of these languages is at least 10% of the population of a certain region, and in some cases – less than 10%.
In 2020, he ran for the position of mayor of Odessa and in the election campaign promised to protect the Russian-speaking population. But after unknown people threw a grenade into his yard, he withdrew his candidacy in the mayoral race.
In 2004, he served as head of the Central Election Commission. During the elections, numerous cases of fraud were revealed, which led to the Orange Revolution and the cancellation of the voting results by the Supreme Court panel.
At the same time, a repeat second round of elections was scheduled, by the beginning of which Kivalov was dismissed from office.
In 2018, already as a member of the OPZZ faction, he joined 36 people’s deputies who voted against the law on the reintegration of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions
