Let us recall that on July 7, it became known about the death of another Russian official – former Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit was found shot dead in his home in Odintsovo. The official cause of death is considered suicide.
Earlier that day, he was removed from his post by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Former head of the Kursk region Alexey Smirnov, who was arrested in connection with the theft of 1 billion rubles, testified against Starovoit.
Russian media believe that the former minister could have faced up to 20 years in prison for theft of state property and fraud.
