Dnepr continues to actively dissociate itself from everything Russian, including in street names. Now one of the streets of the city will be called Stepan Bandery.
This was announced by the mayor of the Dnieper Boris Filatov. He noted that they were talking about the street, formerly called Schmidt.
At the next session of the city council, the issue of renaming another 45 toponyms will be considered. The corresponding draft decision was published on the website of the City Council.
Stepan Bandera Street will be in Dnipro So we are waiting for the decision of the City Council session on September 21,” Filatov announced.
Not everyone liked the changes
He also added that decommunization is a kind of test. The mayor of Dnipro recalled how, together with the secretary of the City Council Oleksandr Sanzhara, he laughed: “Whoever appears first, consider him a potential collaborator.” In this context, Boris Filatov mentioned the odious Maxim Buzhansky.
The people's deputy himself hinted that renaming the street was allegedly inappropriate, but Filatov answered him in the style of our border guards on Snake Island – he sent him for a Russian ship.
Back to news | In his opinion, there will be no streets connected with Russia in Dnipro. He stressed that this will happen even if the Verkhovna Rada does not pass the relevant law.
We renamed Moskovskaya Street a long time ago. However, we still have many other names, such as Barnaul, Siberian. Now we are compiling a list and selecting alternative names, – said Filatov.
Among the possible names for the streets are Khersonskaya and Chernobaevskaya. It is noted that the list will be agreed with the architects and the public.
