Six months ago, Berlin's main train station was full of loud conversations, laughter, anticipation of adventure and travel. However, all this changed on February 24, when the Ukrainians were forced to hastily grab the essentials and, leaving everything behind, run away from Russian bombs.
Then, one after another, prosperous Berliners came to the main station of the city to help those who had escaped from the hell of war. It is about the fate of refugees and volunteers that the documentary film “Station of Hope” tells, which will be shown very soon on 24 channel.
The film “Station of Hope” was filmed by the Association of Ukrainian Producers as part of the project “And then the “brothers” came. Together with the leading media platforms, 24 channel became the main partner of the project, so our viewers will be among the first to see a sensual film about the fate of Ukrainian refugees.
About what tells the film
This film explores the theme of Ukrainian refugees in Europe, when some escape from hell in horror, others, hiding their tears, meet them at the main station in Berlin. In addition to the dramatic stories of Ukrainian heroes, the authors of the film are looking for answers to the questions “how” and “why” prosperous Germans decided to volunteer at the station.
Along with the first trains with frightened, confused, tired Ukrainians, ordinary Berliners began to come to the station, offering free housing, food and any possible support. All this was at the behest of the heart, because they simply could not do otherwise, – said the creative producer of the film Valery Korsunsky.
So the idea arose to make the station itself one of the heroes of the film – a place where the destinies of volunteers and Ukrainian refugees.
“The peculiarity of these filming was that most of the film crew also consisted of war victims. I went to the shooting from Ukraine in the same bus with refugees from Mariupol and Kharkov – a night in tense silence, when only from time to time one of the affected children screamed in his sleep,” recalled the screenwriter of the film, Nina Shulika.
She added that the members of the film crew were in the same confused state as the characters. Their stories sank deep into the heart.
Interesting! The authors note that none of the Ukrainian heroines of the film consider themselves a refugee. They are sure that all this is a forced temporary stay abroad, which will definitely end with a return to Ukraine. And just as at the beginning of the war, the Berlin main station became a place of hope for a life without bombs for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, so the way home after the victory will begin from here.
