Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtsevareached the third round of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Beijing, China.
In two sets, the Ukrainian, who occupies the 115th position in the world rankings, beat the representative of the Czech Republic Kateryna Siniakova (WTA No. 37) in two sets with a score of 6:2, 6:2.

The tennis players spent 1 hour and 39 minutes on the court, during which Yulia served twice, used six of nine breakpoints and made one double fault.

Starodubtseva started the match with a break, but the Czech managed to equalize in the next game. The fifth and seventh games were decisive, in which Yulia took two consecutive serves from her opponent, and then closed the set on her serve.
The Ukrainian started the second set with two breaks in a row. With the score 3:0, Starodubtseva gave up one of her serves, but made another break and triumphed on the court.
For the 24-year-old Ukrainian, the victory over Siniakova was the highest-ranked in her career. A week ago, at a tournament in Monastir (Tunisia), she beat the 55th-ranked Diane Parry. Siniakova is currently ranked 37th.
In the next round, Starodubtseva's opponent will be the winner of the match between American Caroline Dolehide and former Russian Elina Avanesyan, who has recently been playing for Armenia.
In addition to Yulia, Marta Kostyuk, who skipped the first round as a seeded player, continues to play among Ukrainian tennis players. Two more Ukrainians, Lesya Tsurenko and Angelina Kalinina, hung up their rackets at the tournament.
