Stanislav Shushkevich, the first head of independent Belarus and a critic of Lukashenka, has died

Stanislav Shushkevich died from a severe course of Covid-19. The 87-year-old ex-head of Belarus was taken to intensive care.

Although Shushkevich was subsequently discharged, his health was undermined by a serious illness. On the night of May 4, Shushkevich died.

The politician opposed the Lukashenka regime and criticized his decisions.
