Piontkovsky spoke about the situation in France after World War II/Channel 24 Collage
Andrey Piontkovsky told the relevant information on June 12. In particular, this happened on the 109th day of the full-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine.
Piontkovsky said that the tone of attitude towards Russia was “set” by Macron
Andrei Piontkovsky said that before May 9, the position in relation to Vladimir Putin was unambiguous – Europe and the United States supported Ukraine and wanted to weaken Russia. However, it was May 9 that triggered a huge wave of contradictory statements.
The tone was set, of course, by Macron with his famous “let's not humiliate Putin”, “let's save face”. This was picked up by dozens of politicians and publicists on both sides of the ocean,” Piontkovsky said.
The politician added that he was struck by the intensity of the network of Putin's stigmatizers in the West. He also explained that this wave is a reaction to the two-week triumphal narrative in the West about the victory of Ukraine.
According to Piontkovsky, the victory of Ukraine frightened France and Germany. According to the political scientist, we are talking about the fear of losing their privileged positions in the current international system.
After the victory of Ukraine, France and Germany are losing their place
“After every world war, a new system is built by the victorious state. In our case, it will be the United States, Great Britain, Ukraine. France and Germany lose their comfortable place in the system, which they have occupied for the last 70 years since World War II,” explained Piontkovsky.
He also added that:
- France lost the role of a world state, losing the Second World War;
- Joseph Stalin carried out a brilliant and long-term operation, naming France among the winners;
- it was a remarkable recruitment of almost the entire French political elite, starting with Charles de Gaulle;
- since then, the French elite happily took the place of an intermediary between the West and the Kremlin;
- it was useful to them because, having lost the role of a world power, the French elite did not lose their ambitions.
< h3>France and Germany felt comfortable serving the Kremlin
Andrey Piontkovsky said that France and Germany felt comfortable serving Russia.
In particular, the political scientist recalled how French President Nicolas Sarkozy, after the Russian attack on Georgia, fled with a piece of paper of peace.
Moreover, Piontkovsky recalled that in 2014-2015, Francois Hollande came to Kyiv with the same pieces of paper with Angela Merkel.
Now Emmanuel Macron wants to get such laurels with the “Italian plan” (we are talking about a plan that plays along with the Kremlin – Channel 24). That is, fix the capture of Moscow. And the second point is that Russia and Ukraine are starting bilateral negotiations on disputed territories. – said Piontkovsky.
Latest news on France
- On June 3, Emmanuel Macron urged “not to humiliate” Russia. The French president explained that this was necessary so that after the war the Kremlin would “get out of isolation.” Like, “when the hostilities are over, only in this way will it be possible to pave the way out along the diplomatic path.” Despite this, Macron said Putin made a historic mistake and isolated himself. However, he will have to “get out of it”.
- Andrey Piontkovsky also recalled that after this statement by Macron, the famous American diplomat Henry Kissinger said that Ukraine should allegedly cede its sovereignty in exchange for an end to the war.
- Moreover, The New York Times article said that our state cannot win this war simply because Russia cannot lose.
- It should be remembered that Macron himself is not exactly winning. In particular, in the first round of the parliamentary elections in France, the coalition of the President of France is on a par with the left.
