Several historical sites of Kiev and Lviv were included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage in Danger.
As the press service of the organization reported, the following were included in the list:
- Kievo-Pechersk Lavra;
- St. Sophia Cathedral and associated monastery buildings;
- Historical center of Lvov.
UNESCO explained that & #8220;optimal conditions are no longer met to fully guarantee the protection of the Outstanding Universal Value of the sites, they are facing potential danger due to war”.

At risk of direct attack, these heritage sites are also vulnerable to shock waves, the organization noted.
Such a decision by UNESCO opens up the possibility of receiving additional financial and technical assistance for the implementation of new emergency measures to protect objects.
