The President of Turkey continues to insist on negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, despite the clear position of the Ukrainian side on this issue. This is probably how Erdogan is trying to stay in power.
What Erdogan wants to do
Channel 24 told about this political and economic expert Valery Klochok. According to him, now the Turkish president is using Russia's war against Ukraine as a geopolitical map in order to stay in his place and maintain positions as long as possible.
However, according to Klochka, this is just a waste of time, because it will not give the desired result. Ukraine does not take such proposals seriously, and some of Erdogan's statements sound extremely absurd – for example, the reproach that “Putin has become softer.” After all, it is completely incomprehensible in what his softness is manifested. The Russian dictator is obviously not going to withdraw troops from Ukraine.
I would like to ask Erdogan if he questions, for example, the fact that they massacred the civilian population in Mariupol, and there are more than 100,000 victims there? And he (Putin – Channel 24) can absolutely easily allow the same number of victims in Kherson, for him this is not a problem at all. If there are 10,000 fewer civilians killed, will we say: “Putin softened”? This is all the wrong rhetoric, Klochok emphasized.
Therefore, the expert believes that with such statements, Erdogan is trying to undermine Ukrainian stability, although this is impossible. Moreover, this is how the Turkish leader spreads the pro-Russian narrative, because he is trying to convince someone of something.
“I am glad that our position in this part is unambiguous, that the negotiations There can be no Russia in principle. And in this issue we put a bullet point,” summed up Klochok.

What Erdogan and Zelensky talked about
The fact that Erdogan again declared his readiness to contribute to ending the war through negotiations, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said after the conversation with the leader of Turkey. Erdogan is convinced that the vision of a diplomatic resolution of the conflict should be alive under any circumstances.
At the same time, on the eve of this conversation, Erdogan's adviser Ibrahim Kalin emphasized that there are no prerequisites for a meeting between Zelensky and Putin now, because it is possible only after the annexation ends – any agreements must be reached with respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
