What is known about Russian agents

The main defendant turned out to be a man who, since 2023, has been convicted of causing grievous bodily harm and is serving his sentence in a local colony. He was noticed by Russian intelligence services due to the spread of messages on social networks in support of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

FSB officers established contact with him and recruited him remotely. And then through an anonymous chat they sent step-by-step instructions for completing enemy tasks.

The imprisoned man recruited his free wife to collaborate with the enemy. The woman had to find energy facilities that Russians are interested in and photograph them with location reference.

The FSB promised a financial reward to its henchmen, as well as to cover all expenses associated with intelligence and subversive activities.

The occupiers planned to use this information for missile strikes to cut off power to the western region of Ukraine. However, SBU officers promptly exposed the traitors and prevented missile attacks.

The attacker was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law); Part 2 and Part 3 Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). He faces life imprisonment.

It is also planned to report suspicion of treason to the defendant’s wife.
