What the leaders talked about

The conversation lasted 20 minutes. The leaders discussed security and economic issues, global challenges.

Trump's first term has helped strengthen trilateral relations between the United States, South Korea and Japan, says President Yoon. They also discussed the situation in North Korea, in particular nuclear tests.

They expressed concern about North Korea's involvement in the war in Ukraine.

Trump stressed that the United States is interested in cooperating with South Korea in shipbuilding, including exports, repair and maintenance of ships.

Experts predict that the Trump administration may increase demands on Seoul for cost sharing. Another important topic will be Trump's approach to the denuclearization of North Korea and his position on the war in Ukraine.
