The war unleashed on February 24 by Russia on the territory of Ukraine could be the beginning of a third world war. This assumption was made by billionaire financier George Soros.
He expressed the corresponding opinion during the World Economic Forum in Davos. George Soros stressed that this is why the West needs to make every effort to ensure that Russia loses the war with Ukraine.
Victory over Putin is a way to preserve civilization
The invasion could have been the beginning of a third world war, and our civilization may not survive it. The best and perhaps the only way to save our civilization is to defeat Putin as quickly as possible. This is the point,” Soros stressed.
At the same time, George Soros said that Vladimir Putin, who never tired of declaring that the “special operation” on the territory of Ukraine was going according to the rules, actually did not think so. Like, the President of Russia is convinced that full-scale aggression is a wrong decision, so he already talks about a negotiated ceasefire.
But, Soros emphasizes, it is impossible to trust Russia. And all because in parallel with the weakening of Putin, his unpredictability is increasing.
As for the chances of Ukraine to defeat Russia, Soros believes that they are.
“I cannot predict the result, but Ukraine undoubtedly has a chance to win,” Soros said.
The Third World War has already begun
A number of politicians have made statements to this effect over the past few months. They are convinced that the armed aggression against Ukraine is nothing but the beginning of the third world war.
- On March 4, during a briefing, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Mykhailo Podolyak stressed that the current situation in Ukraine is a concrete manifestation of the third world war.

- The former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States agrees with Podolyak's opinion, but has certain clarifications on this matter. He noted that the third world war had already begun in various directions, but it should not be taken literally as a war. Now it is being carried out both informationally and economically.
- Political scientist Oleg Sahakyan emphasized that Ukraine is the only thing that is now fencing off the civilized world from the third world war. He also noted several fronts: informational, financial and cyberspatial. And although the armed war is now being waged on the territory of Ukraine, in fact, the whole world is participating in it.
