A round table on future Ukrainian-Belarusian relations was held in Kyiv. Public activists, politicians, historians and political scientists took part in it.
The round table was officially called “Belarusian Platform: a public conversation about the future”. The priority issue was how Ukrainians and Belarusians should act so that Belarus does not become a threat to national security, Channel 24 reports.
In addition, they discussed whether Ukraine and Belarus could return to good neighborliness and under what conditions. In particular, what steps can official Kyiv take.
Loud statement by activist Frantskevich
Belarusian activist Aleksey Frantskevich said that the situation in Belarus has changed rapidly after Russia began to use it as a springboard to attack Ukraine. Earlier, opponents of the self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko once again appealed to the leadership of Russia. At the same time, it became bad manners.
Free Belarusians finally realized that the idea of a union state, which Lukashenka was so actively promoting, is the way to the loss of statehood.
Frantskevich stressed that since February 2022, Belarus has been de facto occupied by foreign troops, and Belarusians have been restricted from moving. The country is dominated by total control and persecution. The activist noted that Belarus is reminiscent of the Gulag.
According to Frantskevich, if nothing is done, Moscow will soon squeeze Lukashenka on issues of a common currency and a joint army. Then Gauleiter Lukashenka can be removed, and a “governor” from the Kremlin can be put in his place.
Frantskevich noted that all this has brought Belarus to the brink of existence. The activist added that it is already clear to all Belarusians who are fighting in Ukraine against a common enemy: it will be possible to de-occupy Belarus only after the defeat of the empire.
There are two ways for Belarus to ceased to be a dominion of the Russian empire.
Frantskevich noted that there are two ways for Belarus to cease to be a dominion of the Russian empire.
- To unite efforts and help Ukraine overcome a common enemy – the Russian empire – and de-occupy Belarus after the defeat of the Kremlin;
- Organize resistance within Belarus. Liberate the country from the Russian occupiers and the Lukashenka regime.
