What is the situation in the Carpathian mountains

On the morning of January 7, on Mount Pip Ivan Chernogorsky, one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions, there was a southwest wind of 6-7 meters per second, and the sky over the mountain was covered with a cloud. The air temperature dropped to -6 degrees below zero.

Note! Because of the blizzard, the Department of Hydrological Forecasts of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warned of a significant level 3 avalanche danger in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk, the eastern part of the Transcarpathian regions.

Avalanches are possible at low additional loads, individual natural medium and large avalanches. We advise you to refrain from hiking in the highlands.

What will be the weather in Ukraine on January 8

January 8 in Ukraine will be frosty weather. It will be especially cold in the East – up to -11 degrees during the day and -20 – at night. The most severe frosts will come to Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkiv, as well as to the Sumy region.

In the northern regions it will also be cool – up to -8 … -6 degrees. It will be slightly warmer in the West and South.
