During an interview with the Polish publication Onet, President Volodymyr Zelensky shared his vision of the situation related to pro-Russian sentiments in certain European countries, in particular, in Slovakia.
Slovakia's position and details of the conversation with Fico
According to the head of state, the Slovak government is playing dangerous games, not fully realizing the scale of the war.
– Politicians in Slovakia are taking advantage of the situation. People in the country have different opinions, but the government is taking risky steps only because the war has not reached their home. They do not understand this. I believe that evil must be punished, Zelensky emphasized.
He also spoke about a conversation with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, which, according to the president, took place at one of the EU summits.

During this meeting, Fico expressed the opinion that “we still need to understand where evil is and where it is not”.
In response, Zelensky noted: You can't forgive a murderer. I tell him: you were shot. Why didn't you forgive the person who did it? Why was the attacker arrested? The same goes for Putin – he shoots at other people.
The President emphasized that, as in the situation with the assassination attempt on Fico himself, shooting at people is a crime, and all European leaders recognize this.
Recall that relations between Ukraine and Slovakia became complicated after the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory was stopped.
In response, Robert Fico announced the possibility of cutting off electricity supplies to Ukraine and reducing support for Ukrainian refugees.
