The Slovak Ministry of Defense opens criminal proceedings against the former provisional government of Eduard Heger, including former Defense Minister Jaroslav Nadem, for providing Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets and part of the Kub air defense system.

This was announced by Secretary of State of the Slovak Defense Ministry Igor Meliher, writes TASR agency.

He noted that the complaint concerns suspicions of sabotage, abuse of power and violation of duties in the management of state property.

— There was never any legal analysis that would authorize the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine by the Heger government, — Meliher states.

The Secretary of State notes that the analysis presented by Nagy at the time did not meet the requirements of the official document.

What is known about the transfer of MiG-29 fighters by Slovakia

Recall that in the spring of 2023, Slovakia transferred 13 MiG-29 fighters and parts of the Kub air defense system to Ukraine.

The head of the Slovak Ministry of Defense, Jaroslav Nagy, said that the transfer was carried out by land for the greatest possible security.

At that time, a number of Slovak politicians and lawyers argued that the provisional government did not have the authority to donate fighter jets, since this was a “serious foreign policy problem”.
