Kaliniak informed Stoltenberg “about the cessation of military assistance to Ukraine from Slovak reserves.”

– Despite this, Slovakia offers a wide range of humanitarian, civil and technical non-lethal assistance. Our foreign partners fully respect the decision of the new government,” Kalinyak emphasized.

The new Slovak government wants to focus on strengthening the capacity and capabilities of the country's armed forces “to carry out tasks aimed at ensuring the security of people and the state.”

Kaliniak assured that Slovakia “is a responsible partner, ready to develop capabilities both at individual and collective levels.”

Termination of military aid from Slovakia

Slovakia's position on military assistance to Ukraine changed after the appointment of Robert Fico as Prime Minister. He immediately announced that he would not support the supply of weapons to Kyiv from the country's reserves.

At the same time, Fico assured that the Slovak government will not prevent companies from producing and supplying weapons to their clients, including in Ukraine.
