On October 1, Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel. The US has already warned the Iranian side of “serious consequences.”

American troops also participated in repelling the attack. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced Iran's serious response to the attack on Israel, The Washington Post writes.

The US considers the attack on Israel an escalation

Jake Sullivan called the latest attack on Israel a “significant escalation.” According to him, US President Joe Biden is closely monitoring the situation, because Iran’s actions could harm one of his main foreign policy goals – preventing an all-out war in the Middle East.

We’re going to look at what the next steps are now to ensure, first and foremost, American interests, and then to promote stability as much as possible as we move forward, Sullivan said.

He did not want to specify what consequences he was talking about.

“We’ve made it clear that there will be consequences, serious consequences. We’ll work with Israel to make sure that happens,” was all the US national security adviser said.
