by alex

On Thursday, the US Congress sent a bill to President Joe Biden for signature to prevent a partial shutdown of government agencies.

Congressmen managed to vote for the document just one day before the shutdown, which was supposed to occur on January 20.

So, to continue funding the government, despite the opposition of some Republicans, the House of Representatives voted 314 in favor and 108 — against. Earlier, the Senate also supported the bill with a majority of votes — 77, vs — 18.

Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and Majority Leader, said: There will be no shutdown on Friday. Thanks to the joint work of both sides, the government will continue to work. The agency's work will not be disrupted. We will avoid unnecessary disaster.

The bill's passage gives lawmakers six more weeks to negotiate and pass more than a dozen spending documents totaling $1.66 trillion. This will keep most federal spending the same while strengthening the military.
