Should Ukraine cut off diplomatic relations with Iran: political strategist's explanation

< p _ngcontent-sc90="" class="news-annotation">Iran is handing over kamikaze drones to Russia, with which they daily attack peaceful Ukrainian cities, as well as civilian and critical infrastructure. Consequently, Ukraine is likely to sever diplomatic relations with Iran.

There are more important issues than diplomatic relations with Iran

However this is not a matter of prime necessity, because it is unlikely that something will change globally. About this Channel 24said political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman.

Imagine the situation after the war, when the whole country was shelled by Iranian drones. How will Ukraine treat Iran after the war? Of course, this is a country that fought on the side of Russia. This is how we will treat North Korea, Belarus, Iran. But at the same time, we will not fight with them. We will break off diplomatic relations with them, but this will not be of much use to us either,” he said.

The political strategist agreed that Iran, of course, should be identified as an enemy and taken into account in the future. But now the main thing is how we can counter these kamikaze drones. It is this issue that the Ukrainian and NATO military are now solving, and, probably, they will find it, because the drones are still quite primitive.

Sheitelman suggests that Israel can help us with this. After all, there, firstly, they condemned the attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities, and secondly, one of the Israeli ministers even called for weapons to be transferred to Ukraine. Military assistance from Israel – this, of course, remains a big question, but they can give an idea to fight drones.

Therefore, in his opinion, it is necessary to focus on this, because strikes against energy facilities create a crisis in infrastructure. They are terrorist acts and another attempt to persuade Ukraine to negotiate. It won't work, of course, but energy problems need to be addressed. And this, according to Sheitelman, is now more important than the issue of relations with Iran.

“After all, all that the Russians receive from Iran is not weapons that change the situation on the battlefield. Similarly, the European Union shouts back that we need to install air defense to protect civilian objects, but this also does not change the situation on the battlefield. all the purchases from Iran do not change the course of the war,” he summed up.

The Foreign Ministry is ready to break off diplomatic relations with Iran

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba said that the Foreign Ministry officially recognizes Iran as an accomplice of Russian aggression against our state due to the supply of kamikaze drones to the aggressor country. He noted that Ukraine did not extend the accrelitization of the Iranian ambassador and reduced the number of employees in the embassy.

“I am submitting a proposal to the President of Ukraine to terminate diplomatic relations with Iran. We have never taken an anti-Iranian position, but after how Iran became an accomplice in the crime of aggression on our territory, we will take a very clear and honest position today,” the minister announced.
