Against the backdrop of massive shelling throughout the country, Volodymyr Zelensky called on Western partners to provide more weapons to Ukraine. In addition, he called on the world to strengthen the sanctions packages against Russia.
The President of Ukraine stated this in a nightly address on June 25, a few days before the G7 and NATO summits. Zelensky noted that it was no accident that Russia fired 45 missiles on the eve of such meetings.
More armed assistance is needed
Zelensky stressed that in addition to weapons, Ukraine expects modern air defense systems.
Ukraine needs more weapons assistance, and that air defense systems – modern systems that our partners have – should not be at ranges or in storage, but in Ukraine, where they are now needed . More are needed than anywhere else in the world,” the President noted.
