In Berlin, police were looking for terrorists

DW journalists noted that in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin on the morning of March 3, shooting was heard, and the movement of the city train was temporarily stopped. There, the police were looking for former terrorists Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg from the left-wing radical group Red Army Faction (RAF).

According to another German publication, Die Welt, police surrounded the trailer park and shots were fired to open the locked door of one of them. As a result, two men were detained, their identities are now being established. No one was injured.

Subsequently, a spokeswoman for the State Criminal Police Office of Lower Saxony, in a comment to the German news agency dpa, noted that the men who were detained by the police are not suspects Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg.

Previously, a terrorist from the RAF was detained in Germany

It is worth noting that just a few days ago another RAF terrorist, Daniela Klette, who had been wanted for decades, was detained in Germany. As it turned out, 65-year-old Klette lived in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg under the false name Claudia. She gave private mathematics lessons to earn a living.

Klette, as well as two of her associates, belong to the so-called third generation of RAF terrorists. They are accused of attempted murder and a series of serious robberies.
