The Donetsk regional prosecutor's office began an investigation into the brutal execution of prisoners of war of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Avdiivka direction (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code — violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder).
What is known about the execution of prisoners of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
According to the investigation, on February 18, 2024, a message was published in one of the Telegram channels about the execution of 6 captured defenders of the mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at one of the positions in Avdiivka. The defenders were seriously wounded, could not move independently and were awaiting evacuation.
– Further evidence of the commission of serious crimes by the occupiers are videos of the murders of unarmed Ukrainian soldiers distributed on social networks, the message says.
Also, during media monitoring, a video recording was discovered with a fragment of the murder of two more Ukrainian soldiers in a forest belt near the village. Vesele, Bakhmut district.

The relatives of the dead soldiers recognized them in the video
The relatives of one of the executed soldiers recognized the military man from the video. As Slidstvo.Info writes, this is a military man with the call sign Django. He fought in Avdiivka for two years as part of one of the brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
His sister Ekaterina told reporters that Ivan called her and said that he was wounded, and with him in the mine were four more wounded brigade soldiers and one military man, who was healthy, but decided to stay with his brothers.
– “My brother said that the command agreed that the Russians would take them, because ours wouldn’t get to them,” says Ekaterina.
Another killed man was identified as a fighter with the pseudonym Bairaktar. On February 14, he remained at the Zenit position along with other wounded. He was identified by a tattoo of a cross on his arm.
According to the relatives of the victims, along with Bayraktar in the Russian video there was a military Ukrainian Armed Forces Panda. His mother Inna recognized him.
