The number of store thefts has sharply increased in Russia/RosSMIats
The war against Ukraine hit hard not only the Russian army. Citizens of the aggressor country decided to support their “defenders” and began to loot.
So that Russians do not shout about “import substitution” and that they are not afraid of sanctions, the encounter with harsh reality makes them return to the most ancient cultural sources – thefts. Moreover, the economic situation is pushing for this.
Increase in the number of shoplifting
Russia manages to successfully increase not only the losses in the war against Ukraine, but also the amount of shoplifting. On average, up to 130 thefts were committed in stores during the month – 18% more than last year. The average bill of goods that Russians steal from their stores is about 1,500 rubles.
Grocery store thieves steal baskets at the same time to avoid putting stolen items in bags. As for the percentage of goods, 19% of all thefts are confectionery. Sausages are a little behind – 16%. Oddly enough, alcohol is still only in 3rd place – 14%. Cheese theft is 13%, while cocoa and coffee are 7%.
Russian store managers are beginning to whine about a significant increase in theft and spending on increased security and new CCTV cameras at a time when money is also not very happy situation.
The number of thefts from clothing stores has also increased significantly, Russians stubbornly refuse to dress in domestic rags and rely on the theft of clothes from Western brands, because they are no longer able to buy them.
