Shmygal on the border with Poland: The delegation from Warsaw did not come to the meeting

by alex

February 23, members of the Ukrainian government, led by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, arrived at the Korcheva-Krakovets border checkpoint with Poland to negotiate the unblocking of borders for exports.

However, the negotiations did not take place, since colleagues from Warsaw did not come to the meeting on the appointed day.

Denis Shmygal himself wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Now watching

— Over the past six months, we have been living under a constant blockade of the Ukrainian border from Poland. A blockade that has hit our economy and our ability to better defend ourselves. We understand the difficulties faced by the Polish government. And we are ready to help resolve this situation. We are going to a meeting.

The President of Ukraine offered the leadership of Poland a platform to come to an agreement and find a compromise. Here on the border. As equal partners and allies, — indicated by the head of the Ukrainian government.

  • Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction Alexander Kubrakov,
  • Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko,
  • Minister of Agriculture Nikolai Solsky,

Poland position

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk rejected Kiev's proposal for a meeting on February 23 at the common border, announcing negotiations on an export release blockade for March 28 in Warsaw.

He explained this by the need to first conduct internal proceedings with farmers and agricultural trade unions, so that the dialogue with Ukraine would subsequently be meaningful.
