On the night of Friday, July 4, Russia carried out another massive shelling of Ukraine. Populated areas in seven regions were damaged, but the aggressors targeted Kyiv most of all.

Massive shelling of Ukrainian cities on July 4 – what preceded it
The shelling began shortly after information that US President Donald Trump had decided to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin by telephone.

According to Andrey Kovalenko , head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Putin deliberately attacked after the call with Trump in order to “send a signal to the United States” – do not help Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the American president, commenting on the conversation with the Russian leader, said that he was not happy with its results, because he “does not see that Putin wants to stop.”
The nighttime shelling continued during the day on July 4, the date on which Americans are known to celebrate US Independence Day.
What is known about today's shelling
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on his social networks that extinguishing fires and clearing rubble after Russian strikes is still ongoing.
– This was one of the largest air strikes, a demonstratively significant and cynical strike. A total of 550 targets , of which at least 330 were Russian-Iranian martyrs , missiles were also used, including ballistic ones , – the president listed.
He also stressed that the first air raid sirens began at the same time as the media reported on Trump's telephone conversation with Putin.
– Russia once again demonstrates that it is not going to end the war and terror. Only around 9 o'clock in the morning on this day, the air raid siren was already over in Kyiv. A tough, sleepless night, – Zelensky added.
The main target of the Russian attack is the capital. According to the Ukrainian president, our soldiers managed to shoot down 270 air targets, and another 208 drones were suppressed by electronic warfare .
The air defense forces also used interceptor drones, which allowed them to carry out dozens of shootdowns.
In total, at least six regions suffered from Russian shelling on July 4:
- Kyiv
- Dneprovskaya
- Sumskaya
- Kharkiv
- Chernihiv
- Kherson
In many places, fragments of drones and missiles fell, but unfortunately, there were also direct hits, Zelensky said.
Attack on Kyiv
At least 26 people are known to have been injured, including a 10-year-old girl. It was later reported that the body of one deceased person was found in the Svyatoshinsky district. The air raid alarm continued all night. Fires and destruction were recorded in six districts of the capital , at more than 20 locations .
- The Solomensky district suffered the most: more than 30 apartment buildings, 5 educational institutions, and many private homes were damaged. In Otradny, there were residential buildings and shops, and in other locations, there was a private house, cafe, school, garage cooperative, and service station.
- Svyatoshinsky district – at least 6 locations, second and third floors of a 14-story building. About ten apartment buildings were damaged. Most of all – on Lesya Kurbasa. Cars were on fire.
- Dneprovsky district – minor damage, several locations.
- Shevchenkivskyi district – two residential buildings.
- Darnitsky district – drone parts fell into open territory.
- Goloseevsky district – debris was found in several places.
After the shelling, it became known that there was high air pollution in Kyiv due to fires, people were urged to close their windows and not go outside unless necessary. However, the Kiev Regional State Administration issued an official statement, which states that “the state of the atmospheric air in the settlements of the Kyiv region is normal.”

Also among the individual damages after the Russian attack is known about:
- Polish Consulate – there is a fire and significant damage;
- Warehouse of the book publishing house and online store Nash Format ;
- Sorting depot of Nova Poshta and branch #114 (damaged, but operating), #226 (damaged, operating in limited mode (delivery only), no possibility to drive a car onto the branch territory), #223 (closed, police and SES are working on site, parcels were redirected to branch #122). Two cars burned down, but workers and cargo were not damaged.
- Fire department of the State Emergency Service : windows were broken, the building's facade was damaged, 11 units of equipment were damaged. Fortunately, the personnel were not injured.
Attack on Kyiv region
The region was attacked by kamikaze drones, five districts and 11 locations were damaged. In the Buchansky district, the glazing of a four-story building and private houses, a multi-story building, and cars was damaged.
In the Fastovsky district , there is damage to multi-story buildings, an industrial area, seven private garages, a dog training center building, and cars.
In the Brovarsky district, as a result of the attack, the windows of an educational institution were damaged.
Attack on Dnepropetrovsk region
On the night of July 4, Russia sent drones and artillery to the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak , at night and in the morning, the air defense destroyed 14 Russian drones over the region.
In the Mogilev community of the Dnieper district, a private house and two garages were damaged.
In Nikopol region, the aggressor used artillery and FPV drones. It was loud in Nikopol itself, Pokrovskaya, Marganets and Mirovskaya communities. Infrastructure and a private home were damaged.
In the morning, the shelling of Russians continued, a UAV hit Krivoy Rog . A fire broke out there, it is preliminary known that six men were wounded , five of whom remain in the hospital. It is noted that the injuries are not serious.
Attack on Cherkasy region
The head of the regional state administration, Igor Taburets, reported that according to preliminary data, 22 Russian UAVs were destroyed within the region.
Attack on Kirovograd region
The head of the regional state administration Andriy Raikovich said that a residential building in the Znamenskaya community was partially damaged. A 52-year-old woman received minor injuries. She received the necessary medical care. There is no threat to her health.
The house was also damaged and will be inspected by a commission.
Attack on Sumy region
According to the local OVA, there were hits by twelve drones in this area. In Lebedinskaya community, the enemy hit a bioethanol plant, damaged tanks, and spilled molasses. There were no casualties.
There is also damage to ten private homes.
Experts are assessing the environmental impacts.

Attack on Kharkiv region
The Chairman of the Regional State Administration, Oleg Sinegubov, reported that over the past 24 hours, enemy strikes were carried out on nine settlements in the region, and at least five people were injured.
In the village of Prikolotnoye in the Olkhovatskaya community, a 57-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman were injured, and in the village of Savintsy, a 22-year-old and 39-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were injured.
In the village of Vishnevaya in the Savinsky community, a 56-year-old man was injured as a result of an explosion of an unknown object.
Among the weapons used by the enemy in the Kharkov region:
- 38 unguided aircraft rockets;
- 8 CAB;
- 12 Geranium-2 type UAVs;
- 1 Lancet-type UAV;
- 1 Lightning type UAV;
- 2 fpv drones;
- 1 UAV (type to be determined).
Damaged:
- In the Kupyansky district – a municipal service vehicle, 2 civilian vehicles (Olkhovatka village, Sliznevoe village);
- In the Izyumsky district there are 4 houses, 2 outbuildings (Boyni village), an administrative building, electrical networks, a car (Savintsy village).

At about 10:30 on July 4, Russians launched drones at the Dniprovsky district and Novodmitrovka . A 67-year-old woman in moderate condition and a 52-year-old man with blast trauma and concussion were sent to the hospital.
