Two Russian soldiers were reported suspected of shelling a house in Chernihiv/Office of the Prosecutor General
Russian invaders in Chernihiv shelled a residential building. Now, for the actions committed, in particular, violation of the laws and customs of war, two military men of the Russian army were reported on suspicion.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that a tank battalion of the Russian Armed Forces invaded the territory of the Chernihiv region in order to carry out an armed seizure of the Chernihiv airport and occupy the region, Channel 24 reports.
During the attack, the battalion commander gave an illegal order to the operator-gunner to fire high-explosive fragmentation shells of 125 mm caliber on a residential multi-storey building in Chernihiv. It is known that the residential building is not a military target and was not used for military purposes. With their shelling, the Russian invaders completely destroyed individual residential premises.

The military was informed of suspicion
For the shelling of a residential building in Chernihiv under the procedural leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the commander of a tank battalion, as well as the operator-gunner of military unit 41659 of the 35th separate guards motorized rifle brigade as part of the 41st Military, were suspected of violating the laws and customs of war .
The suspects were taken prisoner after the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the enemy tank of the invaders.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway and the involvement of the Russian military in the commission of other crimes in Ukraine is being established.

Recall that the first Russian military for atrocities against the Ukrainian people. They became 21-year-old Vadim Shishimarin, who was killed by a 62-year-old civilian resident of the Sumy region during the occupation.
The trial of Vadim Shishimarin was public at the request of the prosecutors. The soldier tried to justify his actions in court, saying that he did not want to shoot the man, but Ensign Kafurov forced him.
On Monday, May 23, a Russian military man was sentenced for gross violation of the customs and laws of war – Vadim Shishimarin will serve a life sentence for the murder.
At the same time, the wife of the murdered Alexander Shelipov said earlier that she was not opposed to the prisoner being exchanged for the defenders of Mariupol. Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova stated that she admits a possible further exchange of Shishimarin for the Ukrainian military.
