Olga Simonova from Chelyabinsk defended Ukraine for 8 years
Olga went to war back in 2014. Then she was 26 years old, she was a master of sports and a candidate for master of several sports at once.
She was not interested in politics, but then in Russia they began to openly agitate to go to war for the so-called “new Russia”. After that, the girl packed her things and left for Kyiv.
At first she was in the war as a volunteer, two years later she switched to a contract with the 24th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after King Daniel. She was a senior soldier, a marksman. In 2018, after studying in Desna, she received the profession of commander of an infantry fighting vehicle.
At the same time, the military with the call sign “Simba” gave a long interview to “Novinarna”. We publish important quotes by Olga:
- about the beginning of the war in 2014: “I wanted to get to the bottom of the truth, and the truth was very sad. How did it all become possible? We didn’t know then what the war in Georgia, the war in Chechnya was. very unpleasant because before I stood on a pedestal under my flag with pride, and then I felt ashamed for my country, for the state”;
- about moving to Ukraine: “Close they knew that I was going, but they didn’t know why, for how long.And then the communication stopped when one of my relatives asked me: “You won’t come back again?” I said: “No” ;
- about the contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine: “In 2016, as a foreign citizen, I signed a three-year contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to obtain any status. A military ID is the main document of a person liable for military service. And contracts for foreigners have just appeared. I have such Belarusian acquaintances signed”;< /li>
- about changing citizenship: “Renunciation of Russian citizenship was fundamental for me. There are no documents left. Copies of passports are somewhere, but these are just memories: look at your photo in your youth (smiles);
- I found out that I received citizenship in the summer of 2017. It turns out that the decree was signed in March 2017. They didn’t even tell me. Only in November 2017 I received a passport – an ID card” .
We all fight for peace, we all want peace. But there will be no peace without victory,” Olga said.
The editors of Channel 24 sincerely condole with the family, friends and acquaintances of the deceased Olga Simonova, who gave her life for Ukraine.
