The Russian agent turned out to be a 20-year-old local resident who was looking for an easy earnings.

In order to carry out the task from the Russian Federation, the saboteur first established the location of the energy facilities needed by the enemy and prepared the tools to commit the crime.

In addition, the attacker hacked transformer substations in order to pour gasoline on the technological equipment and set it on fire.

For the destruction of the necessary facilities, the Russian special service promised the agent a monetary reward.

As a result of the special operation, the SBU detained the Russian saboteur while he was trying to destroy the energy facility.

What punishment does the saboteur face? RF

During a search of an associate of the RF, a canister of gasoline and a phone with evidence of his correspondence with the Russian special service were found.

The perpetrator is currently in custody. He has been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Art. 113 (sabotage committed under martial law);
  • Part 2 of Art. 194-1 (intentional damage to electric power facilities).

The saboteur faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
