Russia will continue to arrange all sorts of provocations at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, but it will not come to a catastrophe. This will also have negative consequences for Turkey, with which Putin needs to maintain friendly relations.
This opinion Channel 24 was voiced by the director of practical policy programs at the Institute of Political Education, political scientist Alexander Solontai. Putin really needs Turkish President Recep Erdogan now, because through him, in particular, he can send his messages to Ukraine.
In the event of a catastrophe at the ZNPP, Russia will lose ties with Turkey
Solontai said that if something catastrophic happens at the ZNPP, this will be a “red line” in Erdogan's relations with Putin. Any explosion or anything like that will be a serious problem for Turkey as well.
After that, Erdogan will stop declaring that Crimea is Ukrainian and he is for the territorial integrity of our state. In the event of any serious accident at the ZNPP, the railway will lose its semi-ally, the political scientist noted.
Russia really needs Turkey
According to Solontai, the Kremlin can afford to lose such an economic gap as Turkey.
“This is a corridor through which Russia moves away from sanctions,” the political scientist emphasized.
And he also added, besides Turkey, it is also India and China. Russia directed its economic flows there. Therefore, we are dependent on these countries, including Erdogan.
I am sure that military provocations and shelling will continue in Energodar, nuclear terrorism will be used, threats will be used, they will collect security councils and will blame all over Ukraine, they will disconnect the Zaporizhzhya NPP from the power grid. We will have problems with the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, but there will be no disaster,” Solontai concluded.
