Serious reputational losses for Putin: what the situation in Kursk region shows to Russia's partners Angela Figin

One of the goals of the Kursk operation was to unbalance the Kremlin and show Russia's partners the impotence of Vladimir Putin. Now the image of the Russian president will worsen with each passing day, because he was unable to quickly solve the problem, to put an end to it from a position of strength.

On the air of 24 Channel political scientist Igor Reiterovich suggested how Putin will now be perceived by his closest allies.

Putin's reputation is damaged

Over the past year, the Russian president has assured his “allies”, in particular China, the DPRK, and Iran, that he supposedly has everything under control, that he will press the situation and end the war from a position of strength. However, after the start of the operation in Kursk, all promises vanished.

China responded with a very restrained statement to the “breakthrough” of the border on the eighth day after the start of the operation. After all, during his visit to China, the dictator told Xi Jinping one thing, and now it turns out that the Russian president cannot even control his own territories.

The reputational losses for Putin are very serious. He cannot even imagine how long this story will last. We are talking, perhaps, not even about weeks, but months, – said Reiterovich.

Putin will suffer reputational losses daily while Ukrainian troops control part of the territory of the aggressor country, conduct mass raids on enemy airfields.

Accordingly, Putin's image will worsen in the eyes of the countries with whose help Russia now survives under sanctions and in a state of war in general, – added the political scientist.
